Spirit of sport

Doping is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport.

The anti-doping program aims to preserve the intrinsic value of sport. This intrinsic value is often described as the “spirit of sport” and is the essence of Olympism, the quest for human excellence through the dedicated perfection of each person's natural talents. This is how we really play. The spirit of sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind and is reflected in the values we find in and through sport, including:

  • Ethics, fair play and honesty.
  • Cheers
  • Excellence in performance
  • Character and education
  • Fun and joy
  • Teamwork
  • Dedication and commitment
  • Respect for rules and laws
  • Respect for self and others
  • Courage
  • Community and Solidarity
