"Woman and Pelota" Medal to Maite Ruiz

During the “Ist International Seminary of Basque Pelota” that took place in Madrid, one of the subjects that was treated with more extension was the related one to the feminine participation in our sport.
The participants were informed about the recent celebration of the conference “Woman and Ball” that the Spanish Federation organized in Logroño (8-9 May), with the collaboration of the FIPV and the Rioja’s Federation, under the sponsorship of the Spanish sports ministry CSDs. The high level of the communications of the feminine representatives of the CSD, the COE and the French Federation contributed to the success of the event.
As member of the FIPV’s Executive Committee, the player Maite Ruiz informed about the next creation of a Feminine Commission of the FIPV, encouraging to the affiliates entities to act in the same sense.
The mentioned Maite Ruiz was decorated recently with the “Bronze Medal to the Royal Order of the Sport Merit” wich was communicated to her by letter of the Secretary of State, President of the CSD, Mr. Jaime Lissavetzky.

She has been several times Champion of Spain and winner of some World Cups, she was Gold Medal in World Championship in Mexico 98 and Silver in 2002 in Pamplona and Mexico 06.
