During last 20 and 21 of May took place in Madrid the “1st Seminary of Basque Pelota” which they attended the components of the FIPV’s Executive Committee and the Presidents of the Pan-American, the Centro American and the European Confederations of Basque Pelota, besides the Presidents of the French, the Costa Rica and the Chile’s federations
Independently of the receptions that were present in Sports Ministry’s headquarter, of the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Madrid Commission 2016, many important subjects for the international Pelota were treated, like:
“Olympic Basque Pelota ? ”. Jose Mª Echeverria, in charge of this project of future of our sport, set out the first phase results, that it has consisted of a study of the state of Pelota situation, realised for the nine national affiliate Federations more representatives.
First valuation of this work indicates the possibility that in the future it will be a single area to play, something like a mixed fronton of 30 - 36 meters. It proposes other results and, in view of the conclusions, it was approved to start up the second phase on the basis of the next recommendations:
- A single and unique area to play.
- 4-6 specialities.
- Increase of the Feminine participation.
- Low-cost material to play and easy to obtain.
- Easy specialities to develop, and to practice.
- Keeping specialties characteristic of the Basque Pelota, with the effort of all the affiliates for its implantation.
It has been decided that the conclusion of this project will be realised with the celebration of the General Ordinary Assembly, in next 2010
The International Technical Committee proposed its Actions Plan 2009, and the Formula of Competition that will be used in the next World Championship under 22 years in Trinquet (Gualeguay, Argentina, from 12 to 18 October 09) was approved.
